Life has been rough lately. Several plans and opportunities that I worked hard for and eagerly anticipated haven’t worked out. Goals that I had set for myself weren’t attained. This has left me feeling utterly exhausted, and my soul has grown weary. It is sad because I know how good the Lord has been to me, and I will be the first to tell you that God has done so many amazing things in and through my life. However, during these seasons of my life, I tend to be forgetful of His goodness, and I begin to focus solely on the negative aspects of my life. Continue reading “Enduring the Rough Seasons of Life”
Seasons Change
At the beginning of December, an amazing thing happened. It snowed! In Mississippi! Snow flurries happen close to never here, so the four or five inches were such a happy surprise. My favorite tree at our house sparkled in the white, fluffy dust. The kids rejoiced that there was no school; we frolicked in the snow, made snow ice cream that apparently only I like (who are these kids?!), drank hot chocolate, crafted snow angels, the works. The day could not be beat. My eye kept going back to my tree, though. Continue reading “Seasons Change”
Waiting for Happily Ever After
When I was growing up, Disney movies were my obsession. I would get hooked on one movie and have to watch it repeatedly for a week or so until I decided on the next one. It used to drive my mom insane. I was specifically obsessed with Disney princesses and still am to this day. Continue reading “Waiting for Happily Ever After”
The Greatest Commission (Part 2)
…I walked out of the Marine Corps Museum (March 2015) as a newly commissioned Second Lieutenant (2nd Lt.), and a world of new beginnings lay before me. First stop would be the Basic School (TBS) in Quantico, VA. Unless you’re married, you live in the barracks with your entire company. Our company consisted of over two hundred new Lieutenants. A Season for Gifts
Tis’ the season to be jolly, merry, and bright. Right? Well, sure, but that’s not what we’re talking about today. Anyone who reads this probably knows that the holidays are stressful, and little kids get excited about getting Christmas presents. That’s what it’s all about. Right? Continue reading “A Season for Gifts “
A Season of Waiting
Christmas has always been one of my favorite times of the year. As a child, the countdown to Christmas Eve was almost unbearable because I was always so excited. I love the decorations, the traditions, and the time spent with family. Continue reading “A Season of Waiting”
A Reason (or Two) to Celebrate
December is a month filled with celebration, and it’s not just Christmas. People of the Jewish faith celebrate the eight nights of Hannukah, and the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day is observed as Kwaanza in many African-American homes and communities. That’s just the beginning. Along with these and other celebrations in other cultures, there are some rather unique days, too. Continue reading “A Reason (or Two) to Celebrate”
His Glory
Let’s be real for a second: We as people can be pretty awesome! Right? Some of us excel in athletics, while others can score extremely high on standardized tests. There are some people that have a gift in public speaking (and some who don’t), and there are people who can brighten any bad day using just their words. The list goes on, but one thing remains constant for every person on this earth: Continue reading “His Glory”
Just Another Christmas Miracle
I absolutely love Christmas. I love the lights. I love the smell of pine. I love the presents—giving and receiving. I love the music. I love the food. I love the family time. I love just about everything there is about Christmas. But this should come as no surprise: What I love most is Jesus. Continue reading “Just Another Christmas Miracle”
The Presence of God
The Lord said to Moses, “Depart; go up from here, you and the people whom you have brought up out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘To your offspring I will give it.’ 2 I will send an angel before you, and I will drive out the Canaanites, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. 3 Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; but I will not go up among you, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.” Continue reading “The Presence of God”
